Local Content Initiative

In May 2019, we successfully launched the Rockbolt assembly plant and established Khanbogd Mining Services LLC, aligning with Oyu Tolgoi’s “Made in Mongolia” initiative. These strategic developments were aimed at enhancing local content value by prioritizing domestic production and creating opportunities for the local community.
The Khanbogd Workshop Facility, with a total size of 2,000 square meters, serves as a cornerstone of these efforts. Designed and built in adherence to Oyu Tolgoi’s “Made in Mongolia” procurement strategy, the facility was operationalized in May 2019. It plays a critical role in supporting mining operations while contributing to the regional economy by fostering local sourcing and production capabilities.
Additionally, the establishment of this facility has significantly boosted local employment, creating stable and long-term job opportunities for residents of Khanbogd Soum and surrounding areas. Through these initiatives, we remain committed to advancing the principles of sustainable development and local empowerment, ensuring that our operations generate meaningful and lasting benefits for the communities we serve.
